A Match for Europe?
James Traynor re-examines the quality of Scottish football, reviewing club struggles in Europe and exploring the national team's failure to qualify for any major final since 1998.
In 1992 Jim Traynor looked at what was being done to improve the standard of Scottish football in his documentary A Match for
Europe?
20 years on, Jim revisits the subject in the wake of our club sides' struggles in European competition and the national team's
failure to qualify for a major finals since 1998. Jim also visits Germany to find out how they revolutionised their youth football programme, and speaks to former Rangers players Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Frank de Boer, about the Netherlands' continued success in international football.
The programme also features contributions from Craig Levein, Neil Lennon, Walter Smith, Owen Coyle, Derek McInnes and Barry
Robson.
