Hear how a little white lie from Tommy Boyce, one of the composers behind many of the songs that The Monkees performed on their hit TV show in the 1960s, subsequently became the track Valleri.

One of the listener requests this week is Strange Brew by Cream, which is based on a traditional blues song the band used to play called Lawdy Mama. Their producer at the time was Felix Pappalardi, who co-wrote some new lyrics with his wife Gail Collins for Eric Clapton to sing over the original music. And the resulting track is often regarded as one of Creams' best known and loved songs.
