Good morning and a warm welcome to the Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs here in Cambridge on this, the Fourth Sunday of Easter.ÌýÌý The Church throughout the world continues in these fifty days of Easter, to celebrate and proclaim the wondrous deeds of the Lord who passed through the waters of death, so as to carry his people to the rich pastures of his eternal Kingdom.

The Gospel we will hear this morning introduces us to one of the most profound images of Jesus as the Good Shepherd.Ìý This Shepherd not only leads and feeds his sheep but searches for them when they go astray, and even gives his life for their deliverance.ÌýÌý Christ our Shepherd continues to call one and all to share his life and love, and to partake of that rich banquet, prepared for all who would follow him with joy to the Father’s house.

Throughout the ages and still today, men and women have heeded the Shepherd’s call to leave all and follow him.Ìý ÌýToday marks the Fiftieth World Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood, Diaconate and Religious Life.ÌýÌý We are delighted to welcome as our preacher this morning, Father Christopher Jamison, Benedictine monk and Director of the Catholic Church’s National Office for Vocation. ÌýÌýFather Christopher will help us consider how we may discern the Shepherd’s call in our own

lives and respond to it, with eager and generous hearts.
