Bluebirds and Swans

Charting how two of Wales's biggest football clubs, Cardiff City and Swansea City, have overcome their history of hooliganism and violence on the terraces to forge new identities.

Cardiff City and Swansea City are the two biggest football clubs in Wales and Bluebirds and Swans tells the story of how they have forged new identities, through different journeys, and marched all the way to the very top. Cardiff's promotion from the Championship last season saw them join their biggest rivals, and that means 10 per cent of the world's most popular league is now Welsh. In some respects, Welsh football has never had it so good. The clubs have one of the fiercest rivalries in British football - and this weekend, for the first time ever, they face each other in the Premier League. It's a game that will be watched by a huge TV audience from around the globe but behind the glitz and glamour of Premier League lies a dark past. At one time in their history, as hooliganism and violence marred the biggest football derby in Welsh football, the battle between the clubs was fought on the terraces.
