Reviews of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Reviews of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Claudia: I think I am possibly too old for this film. If I was sixteen and I went with a bunch of friends on a Friday night I would laugh until I was sick. There鈥檚 a very good battle scene at the end where it鈥檚 cameo-a go go.

Danny: The good news for Anchorman fans is that this has been tailor made for them, and the movie smothers them in polyester and extravagant sideburns and gags- miles and miles and miles of gags. Some of those gags are very, very funny.听 But I鈥檝e always been on the fence with Anchorman, and whilst this movie does have very funny moments, it鈥檚 not enough to sustain two hours.听

Camilla: I feel a mixture of disappointment and relief. Relief that it wasn鈥檛 as bad as the first film, which I didn鈥檛 particularly enjoy. Disappointment that it鈥檚 still the same鈥 I agree that some of the jokes are really funny but some of them are really awful. In terms of memorable scenes and lines it just goes out of my head.

Reviews of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Reviews of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Claudia: I found it quite poignant.

Danny: I think most Hollywood feel-good movies leave you feeling as if you鈥檝e been slobbered over and drooled over and had your pocket picked at the end of it. This is not that movie. I think you could accuse it of being cynical, but you鈥檇 have to be a cynic to do that. There is an unusual sense of melancholy and a sweetness and smartness and sincerity. This is a sincere, open-hearted movie. It鈥檚 great for that and we should embrace that.

Camilla: What鈥檚 the point? It鈥檚 beautiful, it touched me at some points, but I came away thinking; 鈥淭here鈥檚 nothing in my brain, I haven鈥檛 changed in any way by the end.鈥 Ben Stiller is pretty good as Walter Mitty, but he鈥檚 not really dreamy enough to be the Walter Mitty character. You can see him acting quite obviously which is always a bit distracting. This is a very short story that has been stretched into this enormous two hour film. There鈥檚 not quite enough material. Whilst it is very beautiful I came away feeling empty.听
