Come Rain or Shine: 5 live Weather Review 2014

Simon King and Professor Liz Bentley take a look back at how the weather impacted our lives in 2014, following a year of headline-making and record-breaking weather.

From devastating Winter floods to the hottest Halloween on record, it's been a year of headline making and record breaking weather.

5 live's Simon King is joined by Professor Liz Bentley, Chief Executive of the Royal Meteorological Society, to take a look back at how the weather impacted our lives in 2014.

We look at the science behind the Winter storms in January and February along with the impact it had on the lives of those living in flood hit areas. Simon will be speaking to Brionny Sadler who lives in Somerset and had her home flooded in February. Brionny featured on 5 live Breakfast at the time and we'll find out how her live is almost 12 months on from the devastating high waters.

Scottish ski resorts enjoyed record snowfall in Spring 2014 and we speak to Heather Negus from Nevis Range about the impact this had on their season.

We investigate how the Spanish Plume caused summer storms in July leading to flash flooding and spectacular lightning storms across the UK.

Hurricane Bertha, Cristobal and Gonzalo are put under the spotlight as we look at the impact they had on our weather in the UK.

Plus, we look at the warmest Halloween on record and why 2014 might turn out to be the hottest year since records began in 1772.
