Documentary revealing how Irish Nationalists and Unionists came together for a common cause during the First World War.

At the outset of the war, Ireland was still part of the British Empire but was on the verge of a civil war. When Britain declared war on Germany, Nationalists and Unionists joined up to fight, with three Irish Divisions formed, the first seeing action during the disastrous Gallipoli campaign.

However, while Irish soldiers of both sides fought and died abroad, a little-known Republican minority sparked the Dublin Easter Rising, which forced Britain to send troops into Ireland.
