The Heath Quartet and James Baillieu join forces with Anna Huntley at Perth Concert Hall. Schumann: Frauenliebe und -leben. Bartok: String Quartet No 1.
For the second in a series of concerts recorded at Perth Concert Hall, young British mezzo-soprano Anna Huntley is joined by pianist James Baillieu for Schumann's richly romantic song cycle Frauenliebe und -leben, written in his 'year of song' when he'd finally married Clara Wieck. The brilliant Heath Quartet follow, playing Bartok's String Quartet No.1, which close friend Kodaly described as 'the return to life of a man who has reached the shores of nothingness'.
