Linda and Mick reach breaking point, but there's a shocking turn. As the tension grows between them, Vincent makes a threat that Ronnie can't ignore.
Alfie offers a stunned Mick £900,000 to buy the Vic. Mick’s unsure - the Vic is Linda’s dream. Alfie heads off with Kat, leaving Mick to think it over. Watching Linda and Mick together, Lee frets to Whitney about who the baby’s father is, overheard by Mick. Mick gives an exhausted Linda a foot rub after the pub closes. Linda remarks her blood pressure was high at her last scan. Mick tentatively reveals Alfie’s offer - if they wanted to, they could leave all this behind. Surprised, Linda wonders if Mick’s not happy - the Vic is everything they’ve ever wanted. He claims he is. Linda insists Mick can’t let Dean push them out.
Mick pretends not to care about Dean or Shirley but wonders when things will get easier - where is the justice for what Dean did? Linda agrees there isn’t any but frets that Mick will make himself ill torturing himself. Mick despairs he doesn’t want Dean to ruin everything and wonders if he should get medical help - he’s going mad. Linda makes a decision, promises they’ll find a new dream and tells Mick to accept Alfie’s offer. Later, Mick makes a phone call and meets Shirley in the café. An oblivious Linda calls Elaine with their news while looking at a website showing a bar for sale in Tenerife. In the café, Mick asks Shirley to kick Dean out. Shirley won’t but pleads she misses Mick and thinks the only way through is to agree to disagree. Mick's stunned - Dean raped his wife.
On learning of Alfie’s offer to buy the Vic, Shirley tells Mick to go and wants him to be happy - whatever he does, she loves him. Mick exits but, once outside, can’t hold back his tears. Back at the Vic, Linda’s realises Mick’s unsure about selling. She insists there’s no shame in caring about his own mum or in changing his mind and they don’t need to leave to make everything stop - it’s in Mick’s head. Linda begs Mick to drop it now - he needs to move on and he’s torturing her too. Hurt that Linda’s blaming him, Mick storms from the Vic. Linda pursues him but slips on her dressing gown cord, falls downstairs and comes to rest at the bottom, eyes closed and motionless.
Alfie teases a suspicious Kat he’s got her a present. Intrigued, she wonders if it’s a puppy. Alfie triumphantly reveals he’s put in an offer on the Vic. Kat’s face darkens. After going to bed in grumpy silence, Kat orders Alfie to revoke his offer, insisting she doesn’t want to relive the past - their money is a chance to do anything they want. After some discussion, Kat realises what she really wants is to finally be a proper, full time mum. Alfie gets an idea and suggests they forget the Vic and move to Australia to be with Spencer.
Sonia pleads with a devastated Tina that sleeping with Martin meant nothing - she gave into temptation when he suddenly wanted her again after years of making her hate herself. Devastated and fed up of giving Sonia chances, Tina hands back the house keys. Back at the Butchers’, Sonia berates Rebecca for telling Tina. Rebecca’s upset Sonia didn’t consult her about Tina moving in and thinks Sonia was using Martin, shouts she’s a raving lesbian and storms upstairs. Tina drowns her sorrows at the Albert. There’s a thawing at the Butchers’ when Rebecca accepts Sonia’s peace offering of a doughnut. In the Albert, Nancy thinks a pretty girl is looking at Tina. On Whitney’s advice, Tina sends Sonia a text message. Whitney insists on waiting with Tina until Sonia arrives.
Ronnie’s amused that Vincent thought they’d skip off into the sunset together just because he did her a favour and smirks if Dot’s released she’ll bake him a cake. Vincent exits with a warning - ‘expect the unexpected’ - leaving Ronnie nervous and jumpy. Later, as she’s settling down to sleep, Ronnie gets a shock when Vincent emerges from the shadows - he knows what happened to Carl White.
When the Vic closes, Nancy, Lee and Whitney head for the Albert. Nancy thinks Linda and Mick want time alone. She and Whitney dissolve into hysterics when Lee remarks that women can’t have sex when pregnant. Nancy and Whitney give a depressed Tina conflicting relationship advice. Whitney remarks Nancy struggles to hold down a relationship, to Nancy’s irritation.
