Episode 1
Baiba Skride (violin) and Lauma Skride (piano) perform Grieg's Violin Sonata No 2. Plus Michael D'Arcy (violin), Christopher Marwood (cello) and Hugh Tinney (piano) in Brahms.
Penny Gore introduces this week's series of Radio 3 Lunchtime Concerts recorded at the Great Music in Irish Houses Festival 2015.
This year the festival has spread its wings to incorporate stately homes, gardens and academies. Today we visit No 6 Kildare Street, one of Dublin's most prestigious addresses, and home to the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland for more than 150 years. As Latvia celebrates the Presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2015, the Festival presents two of the country's finest musical ambassadors in recital, sisters Baiba and Lauma Skride. Today they're performing Grieg's Violin Sonata No.2 in G Major, Op.13, written during his three-week honeymoon.
The programme then moves to Killruddery House, the 19th-century tudor revival mansion, where Dublin-based musicians Michael D'Arcy, Christopher Marwood and Hugh Tinney perform Brahms's youthful Piano Trio in B Major, Op 8.
