Radio 3's Tom Service explores the overlaps between classical and alternative music, as exemplified in the 6 Music prom featuring A Winged Victory For The Sullen and Nils Frahm.
The prom showcases 2 artists who are drawing on contemporary electronic music to push the boundaries of what is considered classical music. Tom takes this approach and explores the parallels between classical and what is known as alternative music, aiming to give listeners to both genres an appreciation of the other and to show how they overlap.
Tom presents Music Matters, Radio 3's agenda of Classical Music culture and the new music show Here and Now. He also writes for national newspapers, primarily about classical music. He is a lead presenter on the Proms.
