Don says, "Known as the golden voice of Africa, Salif Keita was a direct descendant of the founder of the Malian Empire, which actually decreed he couldn't become a singer due to his royal heritage. He was also born with albinism which brought its own trials and tribulations.

Pretty impressive stuff, but what I think about most when I'm listening to this record is the fact that as a child he trained his voice by shouting at lions to keep themaway from the family's livestock in his native land of Mali - astounding.".
