Culture Clash and Crucial Vinyl from PM Dawn

The Don's selections cross time, space and genre and include a Crucial Vinyl from PM Dawn.

The Don's selections cross time, space and genre and include Crucial Vinyl from P.M Dawn.

Each week Don selects a crucial album from his collection. He explains why it means so much to him and features three key tracks. This week it's Of the Heart, of the Soul and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience, released by P.M. Dawn in 1991.

Don says, "This New Jersey hip-hop duo's debut album followed in the wake of De La Soul's stream of consciousness soulful raps and somewhat unconventional samples - a combination that struck a chord with many and flew in the face of the more braggadocious rap of the time. Their particular brand of hip-pop orientated R'n'B would see them score a number one with Set Adrift on Memory Bliss which sampled Spandau Ballets True.".
