Each week, songs are played connected to members of 'The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame'. Continuing our alphabetical look at the list, we hear 'Take My Hand, Precious Lord' by Mahalia Jackson and 'Billie Jean' by Michael Jackson. In 'A Matter Of Life And Death', we celebrate the birthday on this date in 1944 of Jim Stafford by playing his hit 'Spiders And Snakes'. Paul pays tribute to Natalie Cole, who has recently died, by featuring her debut hit 'This Will Be'. 'It's Not The Same Old Song' highlights 'Heartbreak Hotel' by Elvis Presley and a different song with the same title by Whitney Houston featuring Faith Evans and Kelly Price.
In the feature called 'Beyond The Sea', Paul plays a song from a UK artist's biggest-selling album in America. Tonight, we hear tracks from LPs by Julian Lennon and New Order. 'The Other Number Ones' are records that reached the top of the American chart in 'Cash Box' magazine, but not in the Hot 100 of the other US chart publication 'Billboard'. This week's examples are by the Foundations and the Spinners.
Our R&B number ones are from 1963 and now by Mary Wells and Tyrese. We hear Country number ones from 1958 and this week by Marty Robbins and Thomas Rhett. Our featured past and present Rock number ones are by Green Day and Twenty One Pilots. The number one album, for a sixth week, is '25' by Adele and her single 'Hello' remains at the top of the Digital Songs chart.
