Billy Sloan plays the very best in pop and rock music from Scotland's greats as well as the rest of the world with regular features Spin The Globe and Early Morning Soul. In this weekend's Musical Chairs, Billy highlights the career of George Martin - record producer, arranger, composer, conductor and musician who died this week aged 90. He signed the Beatles to Parlophone records and produced and shaped the band's music and was often described as the 'fifth Beatle'. He arranged and composed numerous film scores and worked with many artists including Gerry and the Pacemakers, Shirley Bassey, Cilla Black, Ultravox and Kate Bush The Great Collaborations track features The Proclaimers and Wreckless Eric and in The Real Thing it's 'Alex Chilton' by American rock band The Replacements (a homage to Alex Chilton, lead singer of The Box Tops and Big Star).
