Blackspot

In the Irish countryside, in a parish that was once a famine blackspot, teenager Simon takes advantage of his parents absence. However a chance encounter soon derails his plans.

When his parents leave teenager Simon alone at home for a week, he tries to make the most of his new-found freedom. However his idyllic existence cannot last long. As read by Aoife Duffin (Moone Boy, A Girl Is a Half-Formed Thing).

Sara Baume's debut novel Spill Simmer Falter Wither won the 2015 Geoffrey Faber Memorial prize for fiction. She has also won the Davy Byrne鈥檚 Short Story Award, the Hennessy New Irish Writing Award, the Rooney Prize for Literature, an Irish Book Award for Best Newcomer, and the 2016 Kate O鈥橞rien Award.
