Music 'til Midnight - Moira Stuart showcases the best in easy listening sounds and timeless standards performed by the greatest artists of the past 60 years. Including Gregory Porter, Patti Austin, Mel Torme, Bobby Darin and Toni Harper. This week as the music world marks the centenary of Ella Fitzgerald's birth on 25 April 1917, Moira's featured album is Ella & Basie! This 1963 release was the first time Ella and Count Basie collaborated on an entire album. Quincy Jones was on hand to provide the musical settings for what would turn out to be the first of many musical meetings between Ella and Bill Basie over the next 20 years. The featured tracks include I'm Beginning To See The Light, My Last Affair, Satin Doll and 'Deed I Do.
