Good morning,
There鈥檚 a picture that I鈥檝e seen on social media, a message from a parent to a child 鈥淒on鈥檛 make fun of me for having to help me with computer stuff, I taught you how to use a spoon.鈥
No doubt some of us can relate to that, it certainly can feel as if children are leaps and bounds ahead of us when it comes to technology. But it鈥檚 also a reminder of the helplessness of new born babies. I once saw a foal being born, and in no time at all it was walking, if not a little tentatively around the field. Human beings have been created very differently. It takes time before we can walk, feed and dress ourselves. And even longer before we can live independently. I know from talking to my friends that they and I, although in our 30s and 40s still depend on parents for help and advice in many areas. That isn鈥檛 an accident. We were created to live in relationship with one another. Many times in the bible we鈥檙e reminded of the importance of passing on truths about God to the next generation. I鈥檓 so grateful to my parents and many other adults over the years who have patiently demonstrated the use of a spoon, how to do up my laces, ride a bike and more. But I鈥檓 also grateful for those who have modelled to me what it looks like to live for God. In Psalm 78 we read, 鈥淲e will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation, the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.鈥
Heavenly Father, thank you for those who guide us and teach us so many things. We pray that you would give us a hunger to learn more of who you are. Amen聽
