Illustrated with her very personal choice of American music, the ninety-year-old author looks back over a lifetime of writing about, visiting and living in the USA and shares with us what she believes was good and great about the Republic. It鈥檚 an affectionate, tender and sometimes, she admits, sentimental tribute to a country and people she admires. Tinged with nostalgia, this also sounds like Jan Morris鈥檚 鈥榣etter to America鈥�. She hopes, indeed believes, that the qualities and values that made America great, in her view, should and will endure, despite its current period of upheaval and uncertainty.
