Rene Pape and Camillo Radicke

German operatic bass Rene Pape performs a dark and dramatic recital of Beethoven, Dvorak, Quilter and Mussorgsky, live from the Queen's Hall.

German operatic bass Ren茅 Pape performs a dark and dramatic recital of Beethoven, Dvo艡谩k, Quilter and Mussorgsky live from the Queen's Hall. Joined by his regular recital partner, pianist Camillo Radicke, the programme explores two sombre but uplifting works by Beethoven and Dvorak inspired by spiritual and biblical references.
The second half of the programme dwells on images of death, both in Quilter's setting of Shakespeare's melancholic and romantic words from Twelfth Night and Mussorgsky's song cycle featuring four rather gruesome images of Death and how he claims his victims.
