The Music Room

Short drama about a young boy who, supported by his teacher, finds refuge from his warring parents in the most imaginative way possible.

Ten-year-old Ben is something of a loner. Not a surprise really. The other kids think he's weird because he loves classical music so much. And he does, he really, really loves it. His parents think he's weird too - or else why would they fight all the time? And they do, they really, really fight. His dad hits his mum. Ben suffers for it.

But Ben has a dream. It's a secret, of course. Although it does get a bit noisy. Ben has piano lessons at school, but he dreams of being a conductor. Like a proper one. Like Simon Rattle. And who knows, with the help of his music teacher, who is actually the weird one, and the symphony orchestra he keeps hidden in his bedroom, his dream might just come true.
