In Youth We Trust: Celebrating The Prince's Trust
To coincide with HRH The Prince of Wales's 70th birthday, Fiona Bruce takes a look at how The Prince's Trust has changed young people's lives since 1976.
Presented by Fiona Bruce to coincide with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales's 70th Birthday
Back in 1976, after completing his duty in the Royal Navy, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales had an inspirational idea: to invest in the future. He used his own severance pay to launch the idea and became dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged young people. His Royal Highness said: 鈥淲hat struck me was that young people weren鈥檛 being given the opportunities quickly enough. No one was putting the trust in them they needed鈥 - and with that statement The Prince鈥檚 Trust was founded.
In this hour we learn how his brainchild has developed over the years, where and how The Trust has supported more than 900,000 young people across the UK and has become a huge success internationally.
Running through this celebration, we鈥檒l hear personal stories from those who have benefitted. Ambassadors including Phil Collins, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jon Snow share their memories. Plus archive and anecdotes from The Prince of Wales, and The Trust鈥檚 pioneering rock and pop concerts which included the best of British music, arts and the entertainment world. We will learn how they all came together to support young people to a better future - and this was before Live Aid had rocked the world. You will be treated to a celebration of The Trust鈥檚 first 40 years, proving that 鈥淚n Youth We Trust鈥. All narrated by fellow Ambassador to The Prince's Trust Fiona Bruce.
