Colin Murray: Liquor in the Lyrics

Colin Murray plays an hour of country classics written about, and inspired by the genre's obsession with liquor.

Colin Murray delves into the lyrical content of some of Country's greatest tracks and explores the obsession with booze, the bottle and bars.

As Country Music fans walk around the Country to Country Music Festival or tune into Bob Harris Country on Radio Two, it won't be long before they hear a song where a "Guy Walks Into a Bar" with "Drink in My Hand" sipping on "Tennesse Whiskey" and in this hour long celebration, Colin examines the genre's lyrical obsession with the bottle.

Featuring a playlist of current stars such as Brad Paisley, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood and Chris Stapleton and classic artists Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and the king of the drinking song George Jones, plus one or two surprises along the way, Colin explores Country Music's obsession with, and reasons for, the liquor in the lyrics.
