Young Women’s Trust supports young women, aged 18-30, who are unemployed or trapped in low paid insecure work. They provide free employment coaching and advice on CVs to build young women’s confidence and help them get into work. They also conduct research and run campaigns to make the workplace fairer for all women.

Many young women still face discrimination, debt and destitution, as they struggle to get on at work. There are over 1 million young women across the country, who are really struggling, because they are out of work or trapped in a low paid job. 

Jenny, whose story you will hear in the appeal, lost her minimum wage job and was not able to afford her rent. She lost her confidence and became depressed, feeling like she was in ‘a black hole, unable to get out’; without anyone to talk to or help her.

The Young Women’s Trust connected Jenny with, Denise, an employment coach, who helped her feel more confident and ready for work. For many young women like Jenny this support is a lifeline: transforming their confidence, improving their job applications and enabling them to get a job.
