Bloodhound: Chasing the Land Speed Record
Bloodhound and its driver Andy Green are hoping to smash the current land speed record. Andrew Harding has been given exclusive access as the car is put through its paces.
The United Kingdom has dominated the land speed record for nearly 40 years and now intends to put it so far out of reach that it will effectively retire it.
Bloodhound and its driver Andy Green are hoping to smash through the current record set in 1997 of 763mph (1227km/h) aiming for 800mph or even 1000mph, on the salt flats in the northern cap of South Africa.
Andrew Harding travelled with the team to the Hakskeenpan and has been given exclusive access as the car is put through its paces.
