I had the weirdest dream the other night. I dreamt it鈥檚 my wedding day, and I鈥檓 all dolled up in an Indian bridal outfit, with hundreds of friends, family and randoms no one remembers inviting, smiling away at me. But there鈥檚 one thing missing 鈥� the groom. However, everyone seems to be fine with it - including me! Does this mean I鈥檒l marry myself like that woman in Brighton did who got bored of waiting for Mr Right and chose blissful sologamy? It makes me wonder.

Over the years, I鈥檝e also had a recurring dream that Matt Bellamy of the rock band Muse is giving me electric guitar lessons in his spare time. Does that mean I鈥檒l strum Supermassive Black Hole thanks to the living rock legend?

If only I could time travel back to the eighth century to seek out some answers from the Muslim scholar and mystic, Ibn Sirin, who was a master dream interpreter. I think that dreams are like messengers from the unknown, and while most carry fake news, there are some dreams that carry true meaning. While flicking through Ibn Sirin鈥檚 Dictionary of Dreams the other day, I saw some interesting takes.

If you dream you鈥檙e running away from an enemy in fear, it means the opposite 鈥� that you鈥檙e safe. If you dream you鈥檙e walking on the moon, it signifies your love for your mum. If you dream about a cabbage, it means distress. If you see a pigeon, it means good times ahead.

But maybe it鈥檚 time to stop obsessing over the dreams I have when I鈥檓 snug as a bug, and invest in the dreams I can shape for myself. Last week, a friend showed me her goals list for 2020, and it dawned on me I鈥檝e never actually written a list of goals, or dreams for myself.听

Prophet Muhammad said that, 鈥淎 dream sits on the wing of a bird and will not take effect unless it is related to someone.鈥� I know I鈥檝e left many dreams sitting idly on the wings of birds. But I鈥檓 ready to open up, even if it鈥檚 telling myself to dare. I want to lift the lid on my own doubt, and finally set a dream on the first step towards flight. Maybe a little flying tweet to Matt Bellamy isn鈥檛 such a bad idea after all.
