The Secretary of State, Julian Smith, is expected to convene a health summit involving the main Stormont party leaders.
The health union, Unison, has accused the head of the civil service, David Sterling, of misleading politicians over the extent of his powers to increase the pay offer made to nurses and health workers here. Officials have now written to him, outlining their concerns about the handling of the crisis in the sector as industrial action continues in an ongoing dispute over pay and staffing levels. Menawhile, the Secretary of State, is to convene a health summit with the five main party leaders today.
