AA Dhand and Ahir Shah

Rev Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad meet crime writer AA Dhand and comedian Ahir Shah.

Rev Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad meet crime writer AA Dhand. He's written a short novella for the Quick Reads scheme, which aims to address the adult literacy crisis by publishing accessible books by best-selling authors, to help bring the pleasures of reading to everyone. AA Dhand's crime fiction, featuring DI Harry Virdee, is set in his home town of Bradford and he tells Kate and Jason about his obsession with the diversity and darkness of the city, his other life as a pharmacist and why he thinks it's important to reach reluctant readers.

Plus comedian Ahir Shah tells Kate and Jason how he has his father Vikram to thank for his career, when his Dad suggested to his energetic teenage son try out comedy, over a decade ago. In Ahir's current show 'Dots' he contrasts his Dad's certainty on family and his Hindu faith with his own struggles to make sense of the world.

Plus another Charity Champion tells us about their inspiring work helping others.
