Anneka's 80s Treasures
Anneka Rice celebrates all things '80s TV' from Miami Vice and Brideshead Revisited to Treasure Hunt and Danger Mouse, awarding her honorary 'Annie' to each category discussed.
It was the decade with everything – laughter, tears, power ballads, big suits in primary colours and on the brand new channel at the bottom of your row of four TV buttons - a hugely successful show, where an intrepid explorer and skyrunner literally raced around in a helicopter guided by map wielding contestants to solve clues and find treasure.
That skyrunner was of course Anneka Rice and she will be reliving her 80s TV highlights on Treasure Hunt, Wish You Were Here, TV-AM and Challenge Anneka.
As well as playing 80s hits from the likes of Phil Collins, Whitney Houston and Madonna (who came second to Anneka in a Most Influential Woman of the 80s poll), Anneka will be talking about key genres of the decade in television and hearing archive clips of those involved. Based on your comments and feedback she will also be announcing the winner of her own honorary ‘Annie’ award in each category.
Will Lovejoy beat Moonlighting, is Cheers funnier than The Young Ones and did Edge of Darkness or Inspector Morse have better police work?
Perhaps you saw Anneka’s waxwork hanging from the ceiling in the foyer of Madame Tussauds in a blue jumpsuit in the 80s? Do you remember the first time you caught Through The Keyhole and got the answer right, did you know what was going on in Sapphire & Steel (which started in July 1979 but got into its stride in the 80s) and who had the best car – David Hasselhoff in Knight Rider or Danger Mouse? What were the best TV Themes of the 80s – The Clothes Show, Tales Of The Unexpected, Miami Vice, Hill Street Blues, Only Fools And Horses or Brideshead Revisited?
