The Queen's New Guard follows the world's longest continually serving police pipe band, the Vancouver Police Pipe Band, as they navigate a serious succession crisis.
Current band membership is ageing quickly as the band approaches their 100th anniversary with no young recruits on the horizon. Pipe Major Cst. Cal Davis and Pipe Sergeant Inspector (retired) Bob Murphie decide to take radical action that will raise the profile of the band and hopefully attract new musicians to perform for The Queen, as part of the royal guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London.
In its 350-year history no band outside the British and Commonwealth military has ever taken part in a guard ceremony. Will the historic performance attract young recruits and rejuvenate the band membership?
