Organ music by Gowers, Park, Ravel and Kerensa Briggs

Another chance to hear organist Anna Lapwood's imaginatively programmed concert from November 2020. Part of Cheltenham Festival at St David's Hall in Cardiff.

From Cheltenham Music Festival, another chance to hear a concert first given by organist Anna Lapwood in November 2020. Her imaginatively sequence programme of music is performed on the St David's Hall organ. Framed by two of Patrick Gowers' works, Owain Park's "Images" was inspired by a text taken from a poem by Walt Whitman, "word over all, beautiful as the sky, beautiful that war and all its deeds of carnage must in time be utterly lost..." . Philip Moore's sonata exploits the drama and full range of the organ. Next comes a taste of baroque elegance in a transcription of Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin, which leads us towards the blended palette of Kerensa Briggs' Light in Darkness.
