Robbie Williams is on the show chatting to Zoe about the bumper edition of his festive album, The Christmas Present, which was first released last year. It features a mix of original songs and covers of Christmas classics and has guest star appearances include Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Jamie Cullum and Tyson Fury. Plus Robbie has recorded two exclusive tracks for the show, a unique version of his brand new single and a classic stripped back version of his 2001 hit single, Eternity. Robbie has had 14 number one singles. He鈥檚 received 18 BRIT Awards 鈥� the most of any artist ever. These include Best British Male (awarded four times) and Outstanding Contribution to Music (awarded twice). He has six of the Top 100 best-selling albums in British history. He鈥檚 had 80 million album sales across the globe and 13 number one solo albums, equalling the chart record of Elvis Presley as a solo artist, with the second most UK Number 1 albums.

Jay Flynn is back with another round of the Virtual Radio Quiz to test the team on their general knowledge and find out if Tina will be victorious, again.

Chanukah, the eight-day festival of lights begins this evening.听听If you happen to be in a Jewish area around nightfall, you might see people at their windows lighting candles in a menorah 鈥� a lamp made specially for the occasion.听听One candle on the first, two on the second, up to eight.听听It can be quite spectacular, particularly on the final night.

听

Chanukah recalls a moment in Jewish history over 2000 years ago, when the Land of Israel was part of the empire of Alexander the Great.听听The governor, Antiochus IV, rejected Jewish religion and spirituality, which insist that human beings can partner with God to better the world.听听He forbade the practice of Judaism and defiled the Holy Temple in Jerusalem,听

听

Eventually, a group of Jews, called the Maccabees, led a successful revolt to fight for their religious rights.听听听When hostilities ended, the Maccabees entered the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and they wanted to relight the original oil-fuelled menorah 鈥� a kind of advert that they were open for business.听听They could only find enough oil to last a night, but miraculously, it burned for eight until new supplies arrived.听听Chanukah 鈥� which actually means rededication 鈥� celebrates the Maccabees鈥� battle for religious freedom and the miracle of the oil.

听

It was an astonishing triumph, as they were a tiny group with no military expertise and few weapons.听听听In our Chanukah prayers we will describe it as the victory of the few over the many, the weak over the strong, driven by a powerful Jewish spirit that yearned for liberty and was willing to fight for it.

听

My teacher and mentor, former Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, passed away last month.听听Three years ago, on Chanukah, he said something remarkable:

听

Never believe that a handful of dedicated people can鈥檛 change the world. Inspired by faith, they can. The Maccabees did then. So can we today.

听

It鈥檚 a simple, yet powerful message.听听And it鈥檚 one that applies to so many situations 鈥� great or small, at home, at work, at school.听听I believe that each of us has it within us to change our world, alone, or with just a few like-minded friends.听听That Chanukah light, our burning passion for what鈥檚 right and the willingness to fight for it, gives us all hope even in the darkest night.
