Episode 13
A grandfather clock that has been in a family for over a hundred years and a drum kit with a very special connection are among the transformations by the skilled team of crafters.
Today, an old grandfather clock stands tall in the workshop. It belongs to Marion, and it has been in her family for over a hundred years. But now it is a dust collector, no longer used, and neither of her sons wants a large grandfather clock. Marion still likes its intricate details and the flower motifs on the face but would be happy for it to have a new purpose. Fine furniture maker Daisy and interiors expert Rob pitch rival ideas to transform Marion’s clock.
Melodie arrives in the workshop to see what carpentry expert Shelley can do with a drum kit that belonged to her musician father, Barry. He played the drums from the age of 16 to his retirement at 82, and Melodie and her mum went to see him play all over the country. Barry passed away recently, and Melodie wants the drum kit to become part of her home. Shelley has an idea to transform the drums and keep Melodie’s precious memories.
And seamstress Elizabeth finds a playful way to transform a shearling lambskin coat. Katy inherited it when her mum died and would love it to become something that her grandchildren would enjoy. Elizabeth’s clever design transforms the coat into an object with lots of character – and Katy is delighted.
