Gary Davies sits in, with Mel Giedroyc, Sue Perkins and Dita Von Teese

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins chat to Gary about the second series of their Sky comedy Hitmen: Reloaded. And Dita Von Teese is bringing her show, Night Of The Teese, to the screen.

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins chat to Gary about the second series of their Sky comedy, Hitmen: Reloaded. Having stumbled into a career in contract killing, misfits Fran and Jamie, played by Mel and Sue, are not your typical killers for hire. Working out of their scruffy van, each episode follows the hapless duo as they try to carry out their latest hit, inevitably derailed by incompetence, bickering, and inane antics. As each hit goes south, our (anti)heroes are thrown into one bizarre misadventure after another, each full of oddball characters and unexpected dilemmas.

And burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese chats about her show, Night Of The Teese - A Cinematic Special, which is streaming online in October. Fans can expect something that鈥檚 far from a typical burlesque show, as Dita elevates and modernises the classic 1940s variety show. It will feature an inclusive and diverse cast including male, female and gender-fluid performers from around the world, in a celebration of body diversity.

Along with Clare Runacres on news, Richie Anderson on travel and Mike Williams on sport, Gary and the team have the best start to your morning. With celeb guests, quizzes, headlines, tunes chosen by listeners and more music than you can shake a glitterball at!

There's also a Pause For Thought from writer Sarah Joseph and listeners on the line as Gary entertains the nation with fun for the family!

Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

Today is said to have been Confucius鈥 birthday.聽A Chinese philosopher born 500 years before Jesus, his teachings and philosophy have made him one of the most important and influential individuals in human history.聽His quotes are famous all over the world, often found in inspirational quote books.聽Perhaps the quote I most often think about is, 鈥淭he journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step.鈥 It seems so obvious 鈥 but getting started is often so hard, the task ahead so daunting, that we do not even begin. Confucius is telling us, take one step towards your goal, even if it seems unobtainable.

But beginning something is only part of the story. He also spoke on keeping going 鈥 鈥淚t does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.鈥澛燜or me, at the moment, this quote is particularly appropriate. I鈥檓 currently writing a 20,000 word essay in blocks of 50 words. Having not been too well recently, I have broken down what feels like an almost impossible task into these tiny bite sized chunks. It seems to be working.聽In Islam, it is said that the deeds most beloved by God are the small ones done regularly. Indeed, I often find the messages of the world faiths all hold similar truths. I do not think this should be a surprise. As a Muslim, I believe in the essential human condition, and that God has sent to every people wise people, saints, and prophets.

However, like many wise sages, saints, and prophets, Confucius was not well liked by the powerful people of the day. He spoke truth to power, describing how a country should be ruled and the shame of poverty, and of wealth.聽Such views upset the rich and powerful nobles, and he was exiled.聽But Confucius was unrepentant, "All good things are difficult to achieve, and bad things are very easy to obtain." He did not think life was, or indeed should be, easy, 鈥淚 slept and dreamt life is beauty, I woke and found life is duty.鈥澛燘ut if life does not feel perfect, Confucius had a perspective on that too: 鈥淏etter a diamond with a flaw, that a pebble without.鈥
