As the Royal Academy in London returns with its summer exhibition moved to the autumn, we follow the lead curator, artist Yinka Shonibare, whose aims for the show include a radical shake-up of the western-dominated Academy and a focus on the sheer joy of making art.
Shonibare is known for his vibrant sculptural works that play on the entwined histories of Europe and Africa. The 大象传媒's coverage follows Yinka as he puts together the 2021 exhibition and hears from some of the thousands of hopeful artists who have submitted their work this year.
