Step into Arlo鈥檚 inner world for an hour of music and musings on creativity, comfort and inspiration. She鈥檚 called it Dream Fuel - a scrapbook in sound of her favourite tracks, poems, personal voice notes, field recordings and special guests.

In this episode, Arlo shares some musical favourites from 顿鈥橝苍驳别濒辞, James Blake and The Smile, as well as some stories and reflections on songwriting and her recording studio traditions. In the second half of the show, she鈥檚 joined by the American author Carmen Maria Machado, the writer of the queer gothic memoir In the Dream House - one of Arlo鈥檚 favourite books. Together they swap songs and stories, with tracks that transport Carmen back to going through break-ups at college and show off her love of country music karaoke. She tells Arlo how the writing process is like an oyster making a pearl, and the importance of thrashing out to your favourite songs when no one else is there.

Arlo Parks is a London born singer-songwriter and poet, who came onto the music scene back in 2019. Her debut album, Collapsed in Sunbeams, won the 2021 Mercury Prize, and in the same year she won Best New Artist at the Brit Awards.
