Rachel John
Rev Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad chat to West End star Rachel John about her latest album, her love for gospel music and her faith, and supporting Dionne Warwick on tour.
Reverend Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad present uplifting stories about life, love and modern spirituality, alongside a great soundtrack for your Sunday morning.
Their guest this morning is Rachel John, who has been appearing in the West End for the last 17 years. She tells Kate and Jason about growing up in Walthamstow and attending the New Testament Assembly Church in Leyton where she joined the youth choir, her love for gospel music and her faith, and supporting soul legend Dionne Warwick as special guest on her extensive UK tour.
Rachel John made her debut in Disney’s The Lion King in 2005, and has gone on to play major roles in We Will Rock You, Sister Act, Memphis, The Bodyguard and The Girl from The North Country. In December 2017, she was cast as Angelica Schuyler in the original West End cast of Hamilton, and went onto be nominated for an Olivier Award for her performance.
Also, Natalie O’Rourke, founder of Teddington’s Park Lane Stables, a haven for children and adults with disabilities and additional needs, joins to discuss her new book, ‘Only Heroes And Horses: The Heart-warming True Story Of Park Lane Stables’.
