Ceathrar Cailíní Dhoire

Four Derry girls from Thornhill College reflect on school and city life in Derry in the 1990s.

Ar fud an domhain táthar ag cuir suime i bpobal iontach Chathair Dhoire mar gheall ar eachtraí thar a bheith greannmhar Derry Girls agus mar a léirigh siad an saol a bhí ag déagóirí sna 1990idí.

In Ceathrar Cailíní Dhoire, leanann muid ceathrar iardhaltaí de chuid Choláiste Chnoc na nDealg - an spreagadh a bhí taobh thiar den scoil i sraith Derry Girls, agus alma mater an údair, Lisa McGee, agus muid ag fiosrú thaithí na scoile agus na cathrach sna 1990idí.

Tá cuimhní cinn ag na daoine atá páirteach sa chlár agus iad ag caint ar chairdeas fad saoil agus ar mhúinteoirí spreagúla; a gcuid turas chun na Gaeltachta; fios acu go raibh athrú polaitíochta corrach ar na bacáin agus an próiseas síochána á fhorbairt; iad ag teacht in inmhe agus ag vótáil den chéad uair, agus cuairt Bill Clinton ar Dhoire in 1995. Déanann siad a machnamh ar an dóigh ar mhúnlaigh na heachtraí seo a saol oibre agus a saol pearsanta.

The Derry Girls' hilarious take on teen antics in the 1990s has generated international interest in all that is unique and different about the people of Derry City.

We follow four former pupils of Thornhill College – the inspiration for the fictional girls' school in the Derry Girls series and alma mater of author Lisa McGee – as we explore their experience of the school and city in the 1990s.

The girls recall memories of lifelong friendships and inspiring teachers. They look back at their trips to the Gaeltacht, their awareness of emotionally charged political change as the peace process developed, their coming of age to vote for the first time, and the visit of Bill Clinton to Derry in 1995. They reflect on how this all shaped their subsequent work and life.
