Gergely Madaras and the 大象传媒 National Orchestra of Wales perform Elgar's Cello Concerto, Mendelssohn's Scottish Symphony, and the world premiere of Andrew Lewis's In Memory.

Gergely Madaras and the 大象传媒 National Orchestra of Wales appear from Prichard Jones Hall, the main concert hall of Bangor University, for a concert celebrating 100 years of its music department. They begin with a piece by Andrew Lewis, specially commissioned by 大象传媒 Radio 3 and Ty Cerdd to mark the anniversary, titled In Memory. It is the latest of his "Lebenslieder", or life-songs series, and incorporates recordings of the voices of people caring for those with dementia. This reflective piece is followed by Elgar's Elegiac Cello Concerto, performed here by Santiago Ca帽贸n-Valencia, and Mendelssohn's Scottish symphony, which the composer conceived during a visit to Holyrood Abbey.
