Bagpipes Across the Globe
Gary West brings you more top drawer piping from across three continents.
Although only a few weeks old, 2023 is already producing excellent bagpipe music across the world, with major events having taken place of late in the USA and New Zealand as well as here in Scotland. Gary West celebrates this geographical diversity with tunes from Greg Wilson from Canterbury, Andrew Carlisle from Pittsburgh, and Iain MacDonald from Benbecula. There鈥檚 a sneak preview of an album coming out this year featuring the music of the Scottish Smallpipes, and a classic pipe band performance from the current world champions, the Field Marshall Montgomery. And Gary also pays tribute to another of New Zealand鈥檚 top players, Pipe Major Iain Robertson, who passed away this week at the age of 46.
