Addiction in Derry, Donegal writer Frank Mc Guinness and singer-songwriter John Spillane

Mental health nurse Gary Rutherford discusses setting up ARC Fitness in recognition for the need for greater services in Derry for individuals suffering from substance abuse.

The issue of addiction is something that many families here have had to deal with and there have long been calls for the Executive to fund an addiction treatment facility. Registered Mental Health Nurse and former addict, Gary Rutherford, joins us in studio to discuss the need for greater services within the city to support individuals dealing with substance abuse and his time helping people through setting up ARC Fitness. Alongside Gary local woman, Sinead Carlin, talks openly about her addiction to alcohol and cannabis and how Gary has helped her.

Alongside this, Director David Grant and four young local actors; Patrick Quinn,Warren Mc Cook,Christopher Grant and Andrew Mc Cracken join us in studio to discuss their roles in Frank Mc Guinness's play "Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching towards the Somme". With a short live extract from the play set during the beginning of the first world war, and focuses on 8 Unionist Ulster men who volunteered to serve in the 36th Ulster Division.

Lastly, described as one of Ireland's finest musicians & songwriters John Spillane, is full of laughs and craic ahead of his show this week in local venue 'The Playhouse'.
