Taika Waititi and Michael Fassbender join Lauren live in the studio to discuss their upcoming film Next Goal Wins. Written and directed by Taika Waititi, the film tells the heartfelt story of the American Samoa football team, who, after suffering the worst defeat in World Cup History (a 31-0 loss to Australia in 2001), seek to turn things around ahead of the 2004 World Cup Qualifiers with the help of a free spirited and down-on-his-luck coach (Michael Fassbender).

Michael Fassbender is known for his varied and thought-provoking roles in films such as Steve Jobs, the Steve McQueen-directed films Hunger and Shame, and 12 Years a Slave, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He also appeared in the X-Men trilogy and Ridley Scott's Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

Taika Waititi earned huge acclaim for his early films set in his native New Zealand, including Boy and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. He wrote and directed 2014's What We Do in the Shadows alongside Flight of the Conchords' Jermaine Clement, following a group of vampire housemates living in modern-day Wellington. He went on to direct and star in Thor: Ragnarok, and wrote, directed and starred in the 2019 film Jojo Rabbit, for which he won an Academy Award and a Grammy for producing the soundtrack.

And as well as being two of the biggest names in Hollywood, Taika and Michael are both huge music fans - sharing a mutual love for heavy metal in particular.
