Musician Iain Spanish MacKay explores the 50-year history of Scotland’s music festivals and visits some of this year’s events - meeting the performers, organisers and fans who brave all kinds of weather that make up the festival experience.
Featuring the new Celtic music festival The Reeling with bands like Valtos and Skerryvore and Scotland’s biggest festival TRNSMT, where he met up with Irish band The Mary Wallopers and dance outfit LF System. Iain finished at The Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival with Eurovision star Sam Ryder and Norwegian pop sensation Sigrid. He also drops in at The Mela Asian Festival, Rewind for fans of 80s music, a wet EDF on Benbecula where he performed and the Kelburn Garden Party in Ayshire.
Iain also looks back at some festivals that made an impact, including the Loch Lomond Rock Festival, Rock Ness, T In The Park and The Wickerman in Dumfries and Galloway.
