The extraordinary story of Victoria Sackville is more tempestuous and exotic than the better known story of her daughter, Vita Sackville-West.

Victoria was the illegitimate child of Lord Sackville of Knole and a Spanish dancer Pepita, who died when Victoria was still a young girl.

Their daughter grew up to be a beautiful and extrovert woman who, because of her origins, could never be quite respectable and who could never quite decide whether she wished to be so.
