But how did the charismatic gurus convinced their wealthy and intelligent followers to believe these cult doctrines? The investigation also uncovers financial misconduct, disturbing deception and power struggles within the cult hierarchies. As more bodies are found in similar ritualistic settings over several years, the police and relatives of the dead start legal proceedings. The question remains: is it mass suicide, or a massacre?
