Tonjit invites Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp to his house, and tells them that the island is called Long Ring Long Land. It is actually one island shaped like a ring, but when the tide is in, the ocean divides it into ten small islands. Tonjit is a member of a nomadic tribe that moves from one island to the next every three years when the tide ebbs. His tribe has already moved on, leaving Tonjit behind, except for Sherry, the long, pretty horse, which refused to go and stayed behind to wait for Tonjit. Tonjit is overjoyed to see his beloved Sherry again. But as they are enjoying a ride around the grassy plain, Foxy the Pirate appears and traps Sherry in a net. He has come to find Luffy to challenge him to the Davy Back Fight. Back at the shore, Nami learns about the Davy Back Fight from Foxy’s crew. It is a pirates’ game in which the winner can take away a member from the loser’s crew. And if there is no desirable crewmember that the winner wants, he can even take away the pirate flag from the loser’s ship. The game begins when the two captains agree to it, and to Nami’s dismay, she hears the gunshots that signal the agreement. Luffy has accepted Foxy challenge and chooses the three-game match.
