Buggy and Mr. 3 decide to blast through the passageway to Level 3, where they think is the least heavily guarded. Hannyabal, who wants to lay all responsibility on Magellan鈥檚 shoulders, offers to just let them pass. But Buggy and Mr. 3 think it is a trap and attack with Muggy Ball and Candle Lock, which Hannyabal easily staves off. Meanwhile, Luffy and Bon Kurei face Magellan. Bon Kurei knows Magellan鈥檚 powers and strength and is terrified of him. After much self-deliberation, Bon Kurei decides to abandon Luffy and runs away, albeit with much remorse. Unable to even touch Magellan, much less fight back, Luffy at first focuses on dodging his poisonous attacks. But in the end, he decides that he would rather lose his arms by attacking him than lose the battle without putting up a fight.
