After Squardo stabs Whitebeard, he explains why he did it. Admiral Akainu told him that Whitebeard had sold out the ally pirates to the Marines in exchange for their own lives and that Akainu would help the ally pirates if Squardo attacked Whitebeard. Whitebeard forgives Squardo and tells him he loves him nonetheless. He uses his powers to give the allies a way out and tells them that it鈥檚 their choice who they believe in. Squardo and the allies realize they were tricked by Akainu, and Whitebeard heads to join the battle himself.
