Ace and Sabo manages to free Luffy, but Ace refuses to run away from the enemy. Albeit reluctantly, Sabo stays behind and helps him fight and beat Porchemy, who is later killed by his boss, Bluejam, as punishment for his incompetency. Bluejam orders his other men to keep looking for Ace and Sabo and the money they stole from him. Afraid of being attacked when he was alone, Sabo moves into Dadan’s house with Ace and Luffy, much to Dadan’s irritation. Ace and Sabo start accepting Luffy, and the three kids’ notoriety spreads across the island.
