Episode 5
Nigel Havers presides as five sellers aim to get the best price for their items, including an art sculpture, a magic trick, a mirror, a rocking snail and a police car light.
Nigel Havers welcomes five more sellers to the Bidding Room, where they try to sell items to professional dealers who are on the lookout for interesting pieces, with help from expert Simon Bower.
First through the doors are Diane and Neil, with an art sculpture depicting one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Famine. They’re hoping the dealers will feast their eyes upon the striking piece, bought directly from the artist 16 years ago. But will they be eating out on any profits from the £300 they paid for it?
Next in is Edinburgh-based magician Jim with his loyal companion Honey. He’s prepared some tricks to bamboozle Simon, Nigel and the dealers, but can he conjure up any bids for the interesting piece he has on the table today.
Third into the room is Danielle, with a mid-century mirror that no longer suits her style. She’s hoping 1950s fan Jacqui, or any of the other dealers, will offer her the right money to give it a new home.
Next in are Sabina and Matt with, affectionately named Sid, the Mobo rocking snail. He’s a 1940s classic toy, but a modern paint job might jeopardise the big bids Sabina and Matt are hoping for.
Finally, Derek returns to the room for a second time. He previously got the dealers excited with an ejector seat, and he’s hoping his 1970s police car light won’t see him expelled.
The dealers are Ian, Jacqui, Viki, Jo, Lauren and JB.
